Soulwood, a trio from the mountains of the Eastern Townships in Quebec, takes you on an acoustic voyage, exploring the sounds of wooden instruments that ring out traditional melodies of Celtic origin, from the Cajun bayous all the way up to the Acadian dyke lands of the Maritimes.

This trio has built a bilingual repertoire that reflects their beautiful region. Soulwood member Alex Kehler described the band's sound as a culmination of the musical traditions of Appalachian old-time groove, spicy Cajun bayou, Quebecois veilles, melancholic Acadian airs and dance-driven Scandinavian melodies.

All three musicians sing and are multi-instrumentalists. LeMaistre plays guitar, banjo and flute on the album. Hache plays the fiddle, a tunable didgeridoo and various percussion instruments including a washboard sculpted out of wood and a Cajun triangle. Kehler plays the fiddle, the nyckelharpa and the latmandola.
